ISLAMABAD: After the break of two days, the National Assembly session to debate the issue of the president’s address to a joint sitting of parliament will resume Monday at 4:00pm with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
After a protest, all the opposition parties on Friday had agreed extension in the session of the National Assembly to debate the president’s address.
The NA session was previously to be prorogued on Friday but it was extended by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on the request of Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Ali Shah to allow a debate on presidential address.
The opposition leader will start debate on the presidential address.
Opposition parties, especially the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami, and Sheikh Rashid’s Awami Muslim League, are expected to give tough time to the PPP for its five-year performance in the last five years.
On the other hand, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members will also be critical but their members are expected to be mild in their criticism. While Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Awami National Party (ANP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) are expected to be soft on the PPP as they were part of the previous government.
