imagePakistan Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq on Wednesday made the country proud, when he received the prestigious ICC Test Championship mace in Lahore. The skipper has expressed his desire to take on India before he calls it quits.

"It is my desire to play against India before I retire because of the involvement of the cricket frenzies on both sides of the border," said the 42-year-old in a press conference after the ceremony.

"Last year we had to play against India and my plan was to retire after that," the skipper of Pakistan longer format added.

“It was one of the best days in my life - becoming number one. I would like to congratulate everyone. Every player that played, every coach and every selector … everyone who worked hard for this number one spot,” Misbah said.

"Credit must be given to the whole team; Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and Pakistan Cricket Board including all support and coaching staff of team Pakistan," he added.

Pakistan received the ICC test mace a day ago, in doing so the country becoming only the fifth side after Australia, England, India and South Africa to achieve the milestone.

Ahead of West Indies tour of UAE starts with three Twenty20 Internationals and will end with a three-match Test series with a One-Day International (ODI) series in between.
