Former Pakistan legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has revealed that there is no one in the current team to replace Misbah-ul-Haq.
“Misbah is a calm head and is very mature both on and off the field, which makes him a great leader,” he said while having a long interaction with his fans on Facebook. He also called him a ‘sensible and true leader’.
A fan asked him who would be the closest successor to him in the current Pakistan team and the former fast bowler admitted that it has to be Mohammad Amir. He also added that Amir is young and bowls his heart out pretty much the way Akram used to do in his youth days.
Akram chose to pick Asad Shafiq as his favourite player in the current Pakistan team and said he was very impressed with the way he batted at the No.6 position in England. According to the legendary fast bowler, the way he came back with a gallant century after scoring a duck in the 1st innings shows his mental toughness.
Akram also spoke about Junaid Khan who was in the headlines a few days ago for expressing his desire to leave Pakistan for better cricketing opportunities. Akram said Junaid was a talented fast bowler and he was actually surprised why he was not getting an opportunity at the Test level.
Speaking about his upcoming ‘The Sportsman’ TV show, the former fast bowler, who took 502 wickets in One Day International and 414 Test match wickets for Pakistan, said the show will also feature interesting and entertaining discussions with the legends of cricket.
Commenting on the recent Pakistan-England series, Wasim Akram said that the English batsmen got scared of Pakistani bowlers.
