imageBalochistan team defeated Punjab team by 12 runs in the opening game of the Pakistan Cup at Faisalabad's Iqbal Stadium on Tuesday.

The PCB announced that Azhar Ali will lead Balochistan team and Shoaib Malik will captain Punjab.

Punjab won the toss and chose to field in the match. Balochistan were all out after scoring 215 runs in 46.2 overs. Shahid Yousuf fell one run short of his half century as he was dismissed on 49 runs with six fours to his name. Umar Akmal also fell two runs short of his half century as he got out on 47 runs after hitting three boundaries and a six. Babar Azam made 41 runs for the team with five boundaries to his name.

While on the Punjab side, Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer for the team as he made 39 runs from 52 deliveries with five boundaries while Asad Shafiq and Amad Butt made 33 runs each for the team.

Punjab bowlers Ehsan Adil, Aamer Yamin, Zulfiqar Babar, Amad Butt and skipper Shoaib Malik got two wickets each. Chasing 216 runs to win, Punjab were bowled out after scoring 203 runs in 49 overs.

Balochistan captain Azhar Ali and Umar Gul grabbed three wickets each while Junaid Khan dismissed two Punjab batsmen. Usama Mir and Mohammad Nawaz also got a wicket each as well.
