Head of PCB’s executive committee, Najam Sethi has expressed that he wants to invite Indian cricketers to play Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the UAE.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Sethi said, “The idea was to try and convince India to go ahead with the scheduled bilateral series in December and, as the next step, discuss Pakistan players returning to the IPL and Indians playing in the inaugural edition of Pakistan's T20 league next February”.
”We are going to try to persuade the Indians to play us in December. If that happens, we will also be talking about a reciprocal arrangement and I have had preliminary talks with people in Delhi on this about Pakistani players being allowed to play in IPL,” he added.
PCB also wants to discuss return of Pakistani players in Indian Premier League (IPL). On the other hand BCCI does not allow their players to play T20 leagues apart from the IPL. Reportedly, Sethi says the PSL can become the second-biggest event in cricket after the Indian Premier League. Pakistan players featured in the first edition of the IPL in 2008 but after the terror attacks in Mumbai that year, the Indian government suspended all bilateral sporting ties with Pakistan.
A number of famous international cricket players gave their consent to play in Pakistan Super League (PSL); the latest signing England’s Kevin Pietersen has been joined by the likes of Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, Andre Russell, Luke Wright, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Time Bresnan and Sunil Narine.
However, the Pakistan Super League will feature franchise-based teams from the provincial capitals Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad. The PSL tournament will be played in Dubai, Sharjah from February 4 to 24 2016.
