imageISLAMABAD: Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar feels the current generation is missing out the unique rivalry of cricket matches between Pakistan and India saying he was looking forward to the Asia Cup where both the countries will meet each other.

The cricket lovers around the globe can now take a sigh of relief as they don't have to wait too much to see the Indo-Pak encounter as both the sides will be face to face in the Asia Cup on February 27 in Mirpur, Bangladesh, which will be in its new avatar as a Twenty-20 tournament.

Akhtar said he feels disappointed over the lack of cricket matches between India and Pakistan. "Since there is not much cricket happening between the two neighbouring countries, the current generation is missing out on this Indo-Pak rivalry," timesofindia quoted Akthar as saying.

He said he has always felt that every now and then we should find an opportunity to play each other. "Generations of cricketers from both countries have experienced this rivalry, the pressure that comes with it, and have matured as cricketers. This generation is missing out on the beauty of that rivalry," Akhtar said.

Akhtar said that he was looking forward to the Asia Cup where fans will get to see the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan. "I am looking forward to when the Asia Cup begins. And of course, there's the World T20 game to look forward to," he said.

Speaking about pacer Muhammad Amir, Akthar said Amir had suffered enough. "Amir and his family have been through a lot after he was suspended and all these years have been life's biggest lessons for him," he said.

He said Amir is still young and is willing to learn and walk on the right path so he should be given a chance. "I hope Amir works his way out of this and I would love to watch him bowl to Virat Kohli," he said.
