KARACHI: Spain's top retail chain, El Corte Ingles is planning to exhibit almost all kinds of Pakistani consumer products at its stores across Spain for about a month.

This was stated by the leader of 22-member buying mission and director of El Corte Ingles Group, Borja de la Cierva while speaking at a press briefing along with the chief executive of TDAP Tariq Iqbal Puri at the conclusion of 7-day visit of the delegation in Pakistan.

He said the purpose of the delegation was to explore the possibilities of sourcing supplies of consumer goods from Pakistan to his company.” We were conceiving as dangerous place and a close society. But our visit has changed our minds and we find Pakistan a friendly, good and a reliable place for purchasing all kind of consumer goods", he added.

He said that all kinds of Pakistani merchandise will be on display during one month long exhibition including food, clothing, home textiles, handicrafts, furniture, sportswear, shoes, and carpets.

This exhibition will be held after the similar exhibitions for Mexico and Brazil, he noted. Borja said that he was impressed with the quality of Pakistani products during the visit of production facilities. We buy only quality products and we are famous for selling high standard merchandises in our stores.

"The quality of some of the products was so good that we placed purchase orders for goods despite the fact that are not here to purchase goods", he added.

He said El Corte Ingles has 14 subsidiaries with an annual turnover of more than $ 25 billion and over $ 10 billion imports per annum.

He said that Pakistan is an important country in the region and we might consider opening our outlets here in future.

Tariq Puri said that the delegation has visited 59 factories all over Pakistan and held meetings with to 272 exporters during their week long stay here.

He said the mission has covered every sector of Pakistan's exports and they would buy Pakistani products for an exclusive display in their stores in near future.

He said that El Corte Ingles was mulling to open their buying offices in Karachi and Lahore in near future.-APP
