Chyna, the WWE star who in the 1990s became one of the best-known and most-popular female professional wrestlers in history, has been found dead in her apartment on Wednesday.
“It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero,” a statement posted on her Twitter account read. “#RipChyna all of us on team Chyna love you and will love you forever babe,” her Facebook post reads.
Entertainment website TMZ reported that police were investigating her death on Wednesday night at her home in Redondo Beach, California as a possible overdose due mainly to her history with drugs. Prescription bottles were found in the home, but there were no illegal drugs
Chyna rose to fame in the professional world of wrestling back in 1997 where she was famously dubbed the ‘Ninth Wonder of the World’ in the World Wrestling Foundation. Chyna struggled with addiction for years and appeared on ‘Celebrity Rehab’ back in 2008.
