imageVeteran actor Saeed Jaffrey, who starred in several Bollywood and international films, has died at the age of 86.

According to the guardian report, News of the actor’s death was shared by his niece Shaheen Aggarwal on her Facebook on Sunday.

Saeed is known for his roles in movies like Gandi (1982), Shatranj Ke Khiladi (1977), Henna (1991), Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), Dil (1990) and more. He was married to actress-author Madhur Jaffrey, with whom he had three children. His daughter Sakina is a well-known actress. He and Madhur Jaffrey divorced in 1965 and he later married casting director Jennifer Sorrell in 1980, remaining married to her until his death.

He also acted in international films like ‘The Man Who Would Be King’, ‘Death on the Nile’, ‘Sphinx’, ‘The Jewel in the Crown’, ‘A Passage to India’, ‘My Beautiful Laundrette’, ‘The Deceivers’, ‘After Midnight’, ‘On Wings of Fire’ and ‘Chicken Tikka Masala’. As well as he received a BAFTA nomination for ‘My Beautiful Laundrette’.

He is also the first Indian to receive the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contributions to drama.

He has Bollywood hits like Dil, Kishan Kanhaiya, Ghar Ho Toh Aisa, Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat, Deewana Mastana, Mohabbat, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Aunty No 1, Albela, Judaai and Ajooba among others, to his credit.
