Relationship with family
Alia Bhatt is a daughter of director Mahesh Bhatt and half-sister of producer/director Pooja Bhatt. Though, Mahesh Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt are the influential personalities of Indian film industry, Alia Bhatt is closer to her mother Soni Razdan and her sister Shaheen. In an interview to an Indian tabloid, Alia had admitted that she is closer to her mother, however after entering into Bollywood she warmed up her relationship with her father Mahesh Bhatt.
Bollywood debut
Alia Bhatt made her Bollywood debut in Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’ which didn’t come to her easily. She battled it out for the role and was selected from 400 other aspiring actresses. She loses lots of weight to play ‘Shanaya Singhania’ in the movie.

Father Mahesh Bhatt is not too happy with her decision and said, “I have always admired her ability to walk on her own two feet. Alia is a self-made individual and there is nothing more gratifying for parents than to see their child grow on her own. She has the right to be different, and we must value that. For me, my home is where Alia is. But we have to go through this inevitable curve once in our life. When your daughter tells you that she's a big girl now and needs her own space,” Times of India reported.

Many people believe that Alia Bhatt is a younger version of Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan. Bhatt too confessed that she is a big fan of ‘Heroine’ actress and she feels blessed to work with her in an upcoming movie ‘Udta Punjab’.
