Shailene Woodley is in talks to star in Oliver Stone’s Edward Snowden film, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the whistleblower. Woodley would play Snowden’s girlfriend in his biopic.
According to foreign media reports, Gordon-Levitt will play the NSA contractor who leaked classified documents, prompting the media to both champion him as a whistleblower and call him a traitor. Woodley is nearing a deal to play Snowden’s longtime girlfriend Lindsay Mills, a dancer who recently moved to Moscow to live with him.
Woodley starred in a recent blockbuster movie ‘Faults in Our Stars’ has wrapped up shoot for the latest installment of ‘Insurgent’ and now in talks to star in a movie on U.S whistleblower Edward Snowden.
The Oliver Stone directed project is based on Luke Harding’s ‘The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man’ and ‘Time of the Octopus’ the upcoming novel from Snowden’s Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena.
As for now, Joseph Gordon Levitt has been signed to play the lead in the movie. The project is currently in preproduction in Germany with principal photography set to start in January.
