‘The Hunger Games’ Mockingjay - Part 1’ has launched a promotional web series in collaboration with Google to promote the third installment of the franchise.
Lionsgate/Summit is running a five-part Hunger Games web series called ‘District Voices’ this week, as part of the larger marketing campaign for an upcoming ‘Hunger Games’ franchise.
YouTube creators will create the fictional world called ‘Panem’ in the five-episode series titled ‘District Voices’. “We cannot think of a better partner than these incredible YouTube stars, who truly bring new content to life in the world of ‘Panem’ and extend our storytelling to online audiences in exciting new directions,” Lionsgate executive vice-president of digital marketing, Danielle De Palma said in an interview to foreign media.
According to media reports, the web series will include Youtube personalities (such as iJustine) playing citizens of Panem, with each clip focusing on a different aspect of everyday life in the Hunger Games universe. It’s reflective of a smart strategy, to appeal to the franchise’s young adult target audience.
Episodes started Monday on the movie’s Capital TV website and the YouTube channel for ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise. The film, directed by Francis Lawrence, also stars Jennifer Lawrence and Julianne Moore.
