The Ministry of Information announced that the Government has decided to continue the existing policy to display all international films, including Indian films, in Pakistani cinemas.
According to an official handout issued by the information ministry, the government is pleased to continue the existing open policy to display all international movies (including Indian films) in Pakistani cinemas, local media reported.
Foreign film importers would now be obliged to send a request to Information ministry. The importer is required to give details of film name and its cast and a CD of the film, the request would then be processed to commerce ministry for NOC. Before the film screening, it is mandatory on the importer to get approval from the censor board.
Karan Johars Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is the first film to be screened here in Pakistan. Reportedly, the movie is slated to hit local theatres on Friday, February 3, with Hrithik Roshans Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan-starrer Raees to follow soon after.
Aamir Khans Dangal and Salman Khans Sultan might also hit Pakistani theatres depending on the demand of moviegoers.
