Didn't 'disrespect' Wasim Akram's team: Misbah
Pakistan Test skipper Misbah ul Haq has clarified that he didnt intent to 'disrespect' the Pakistan cricket team, which toured Australia in 1999.
The explanation comes after Misbah said that Pakistans 1999 team was the best one, while responding to a question asked by media persons right after the Sydney Test loss. The skipper who faced a lot of heat was asked if he considered the current side was the best team which toured Australia?
"Clarification on the 1999 tour. @MazherArshad asked me in press conf about if this was the best team for Pakistan in Australia," stated Misbah on the micro blogging platform Twitter.
Misbah added on that his aim was not to disrespect the team led by legendry fast bowler Wasim Akram and featuring the likes of SaqlainMushtaq, Shoaib Akhtar, Ijaz Ahmed and others, calling them the legends of Pakistan cricket.
"My reply was that 99 team was our best team. My aim wasn't to disrespect them. I wasn't trying to use them as an excuse. They're our legends."
"I have nothing but respect for the 1999 team. @wasimakramlive who was captain then, is someone who I've worked with, & has helped me a lot," he added.
Pakistani skipper has been facing bashing after the dismal show by his men, as Pakistan suffered a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Australia in the Test series.
