imageISLAMABAD: Former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz while hailing the caretaker Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi for his concerns regarding the revival of Indo-Pak cricket series next year said both the countries governments' should also play their part in the happening of this series.

During the logo unveiling ceremony of the Pakistan and South Africa series in the UAE, Najam Sethi said he had got assurances to have a bilateral with India next year. India has not played a full bilateral series with Pakistan since 2007 although it invited Pakistan for a short series in India last December.

Talking to APP on Monday, Sarfraz Nawaz said Najam Sethi had been paying special attention for the revival of Indo-Pak bilateral series and he believes he could make it happen with some help required from the government.

Speaking of the national Test team for series against South Africa, he said the whole teams of all three formats should have been announced by the PCB. "If our batsmen won't score massive runs in the series then I feel our bowlers' wouldn't be able to win them matches," he said adding that the said series will be a real test for our batsmen.

Former captain Zaheer Abbas said he had earlier proposed that a stadium or ground should be built at a neutral venue for the Pak-India series to be played there.

Abbas said that besides cricket multi-sports activities should also be held between the two nations. "This way both the countries can improve their relation by playing matches of any sports disciplines against each other they want," he said.

Zaheer Abbas said sports can prove as a tool to make both the countries relations better and prosperous. "Sports are also a source of income and if both the countries can have any type of sports activities it would result in the betterment of the economy of both the countries and would further provide business opportunities also," he said.

Zaheer Abbas also suggested that the Indo-Pak series should be given a name like the Australia-England Ashes series. "If this happens it would prove as a memorable series between both the countries," he added.
