Pakistan-National-Council- ISLAMABAD: Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has always played its due role to promote the cultural heritage of the country and preserving national heritage for next generations as well.

While talking to APP, DG PNCA Tauqir Nasir said that the manifesto of PNCA is to promote arts in youngsters, as they were the future of the country, but giving due respect and honour to the older generation is also our top priority.

"Our team is working hard to revive the art and culture in the country, surprisingly the response of public is more encouraging than anything else, keeping us going at a better pace," he said.

He believed that PNCA should be far more active in promoting art and culture so that it could get international recognition and people from various parts of the world visit Pakistan just to catch a glance of this paradise of the artists.

He seemed more excited about one of the programmes of PNCA in which they dedicated one evening to some living legend. For me this is a real tribute when the legend himself could enjoy all such emotional moments, he added.

He lamented that artists were not given due respect in their lifetimes and majority of them die in a very pathetic circumstances.

"We have record of such events when artists spent their last days of life in misery despite the fact this is the actual age where they should enjoy their status the most," he added.

He urged the government to take immediate steps for the welfare of the artists, specially in social security initiative, where they feel socially secure.

"If the government seriously wants to promote arts and culture in the country it has to facilitate the artist by taking extensive measures," he added.

There should be proper training of the artists, which include their communication skills, mannerism and some diplomatic skills. Since artists are ambassadors of our country, they need to further improve their skills, he added.

He informed that like all other organizations, PNCA is also facing budget problems, but still doing great in these limited resources.
