ISLAMABAD: Director General Planning Earthquake Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Authority Brig (Rtd.) Pervez Niazi said that ERRA has completed 8979 projects out of 14528 assigned projects in AJK and KPK's quake-hit areas during five years.
Talking to a private news channel, he said his department did not stop work on any project due to shortage of funds, however work on certain projects has been slowed.
He termed ERRA as the country's successful public department, which carried out gigantic task for its countrymen in rebuilding the earthquake affected areas.
To a question about the priorities of the department, Pervez Niazi said ERRA is giving top priority to education sector and 2386 schools, colleges and universities have so far been completed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 3365 more educational institutions will have to be completed, for which about Rs15 billions are required.
He said the government allocated about Rs8 billions to ERRA for development.
Niazi said ERRA is undertaking its construction work transparently under the supervision of NESPAK.
Giving the details of international appreciation to ERRA, he said ERRA has been given award by UN, while ISO certification has also been awarded to it.
