Mexican stock exchange opens 3.27pc lower
MEXICO CITY: Mexico's stock exchange opened 3.27 percent lower on Thursday, while its currency, the peso, was down nearly three percent.
The main indicator fell 1,111 points to 32,908, after markets worldwide reacted negatively to the latest moves by the US Federal Reserve to revive the flagging US economy.
The peso exchanged hands at 13.93 to the dollar, down 2.95 percent.
The Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, the second largest in Latin America, is heavily influenced by markets in the United States, its main business partner to which it sends some 80 percent of exports.
Stocks in Europe and Asia sank earlier after the Fed Reserve warned of "significant downside risks to the economic outlook" in the United States amid high unemployment, slow growth and a depressed housing market.
