RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazil's trade surplus will likely climb to $30 billion in 2016, doubling from an estimated $15 billion this year, Trade Minister Armando Monteiro said on Thursday.
Speaking at an event of steel producers, Monteiro said the government plans to decide in 15 days whether to raise import tariffs on steel products to help the local industry.
The government formed a working group to analyze the impact of a possible tariff increase on other sectors of the economy, government officials told Reuters on Wednesday.
