Pakistan’s fast bowler Umar Gul is unlikely to become part of upcoming Twenty-20 World Cup and Asia Cup.
“I think if a player returns to the team after a gap of six or seven months and is then kicked out again, it’s quite harsh,” Gul said while talking to local media.
Umar Gul has featured regularly in domestic cricket recently and has played in all of ‘Quetta Gladiators' matches in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), picking up four wickets in as many fixtures. According to local media report, “I’ve been playing domestic cricket regularly and have featured in all PSL matches so far and feeling fully fit too,” he said. “I’m putting in a lot of effort and my rhythm is good too,” added Gul.
The T20 World Cup will be held in India from March 8 to April 3 while the Asia Cup will be staged in Bangladesh from February 24 to March 6. However, South Africa, England, the West Indies, and Sri Lanka are in Group 1, while India, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand are in Group 2.
Gul, who has played 47 Tests and 126 ODIs for Pakistan since making his debut in 2003, recently Gul selected for T20 series against New Zealand after a gap of about ten months.
