ISLAMABAD: Former leg-spin wizard, Abdul Qadir said holding Pakistan Super League on home grounds would have been a real possibility had more attractive financial incentive been offered to foreign players.
Talking with APP on Thursday, he took exception to Pakistan Cricket Board for not making more focussed efforts to hold PSL in the country instead of arranging it at the neutral venue of UAE. "PSL is a good idea. It would have been better for our cricket if the PSL had taken place on our own soil" he said. He referred to the comment of a PCB official that the country is safe for cricket. "If so, what were the reasons not to hold PSL here".
Qadir refused to accept Zimbabwe tour to Pakistan in May last as a series. "First of all I do not consider it a series because of holing it in one city. Ifit had taken place in more than one city, it would have been more beneficial for the Pakistan cricket."
To a question he said money has the power to attract a good number of foreign players. "If PCB offers money according to the players ability and respective star value, then there is good chance they will not refuse to play in Pakistan".
He, however, admitted that some international players like AB de Villiers might have declined even bigger monetary rewards, if they were on international assignment with their national team or busy with some other tournament back home.
Qadir said PCB should tell public about the sponsors of the PSL. "people are totally unaware of this thing".
