imageAfter Pakistan sealed their successive ODI series win after defeating Sri Lanka in 4th ODI on Wednesday, Pakistan’s one-day skipper Azhar Ali expressed delight and said the series win was the team’s gift to the people of Pakistan who celebrated Eidul Fitr last week.

According to local media reports, Azhar Ali said, “This is our Eid gift to our fans. With the Champions Trophy qualification in mind, every game becomes important, so we want to win the final game also. Credit is due to the bowlers who kept the pressure on the Sri Lankan batsmen. And then Shehzad and Hafeez batted so well to bring us victory”.

On Wednesday, Azhar added that the series win over Sri Lanka meant a lot to the team. “Winning in Sri Lanka is not easy. On their home soil, they are a very good side and they play really well. We haven’t won an ODI series here for the last nine years so we wanted to win badly. The boys responded brilliantly. From our point we’ve done really well. We are very happy to have achieved it”.

Azhar has played only 14 ODIs so far and has represented Pakistan in ten ODI’s as a national team captain. Now, with this latest victory he has now been crowned as one of the most successful captain of the world.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the fourth ODI to take a winning 3-1 lead in the five-match series. The fifth and final ODI will be played at Hambantota on Sunday.
