The Pakistan Cricket Board in 2009 had put a fine on Shoaib Akhtar annual earnings, now (PCB) has returned an amount of seven million rupees to Shoaib Akhtar which was deducted from the earnings as part of a fine imposed on him years ago.
The money was deducted from Shoaib’s earnings from January to November 2009 when he was fined by the PCB on disciplinary grounds. Shoaib’s annual earnings included his central contract payments, match fees and win bonuses. As per local media reports, The fast-bowler, then, filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) and Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza set aside the fine and the ban in February this year, directing the PCB to return the amount.
According to local media reports, an official of the board said that during a meeting between Chairman of the executive committee, Najam Sethi and Akhtar, the matter was amicably resolved. Many other top officials of the PCB were present at the Gaddafi stadium to attend the meeting. “The matter is now closed and Shoaib Akhtar returned happy with the outcome,” he said.
Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was fined and banned for 18 months for violating his contract by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and striking teammate Mohammad Asif with a bat before the World T20 in South Africa in 2007.
