imageKARACHI: Former Test Captain Aamir Sohail has said that without overhauling the system in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and strengthening domestic cricket nothing can be achieved.

"We will be facing similar situation and defeats like in Dubai on Sunday again and again," he told APP in reaction to Pakistan's nine-wicket loss to Sri Lanka in the second Test in Dubai.

"Because of weakness and flaws in our system quality of cricket is poor and mismanagement and lack of administration in PCB causing the repeated problems," he said.

"There is a huge gap in Pakistan's first class and international cricket," he said. "We must narrow the gap to save our cricket."

He said it was surprising that curator had not prepared the track which could have suited Pakistan being the host.

Misbah-ul-Haq's team crashed to 165 all out in their first innings after inserted to bat first on a seaming and swinging track.

"Pakistan's batting problems are well known and we have failed to overcome these for the last many years. The highly rated bowling was not up to the mark which compounded our problems," he added.

"Our top-order batting trouble are traditional. We have failed to rectify it because of poor domestic structure," the former chief selector said.

He said Muhammad Hafeez was rightly picked in the Test squad after striking three centuries in the One-Day series.

"There is hardly any consistency in Pakistan's top order batting, which is repeatedly letting the team down," he said.

He said it would be a big challenge for Pakistan to level the series in Sharjah where third Test opens on Thursday.

"Pakistan should prepare under-prepared track keeping in view team's solid spin-attack," he said. However, he added Ranagna Herath could pose big problems for Pakistan's batting.

He said with Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman and Muhammad Hafeez, Pakistan might enjoy some spin advantage.

Aamir Sohail, however, expressed his surprise over off- spinner Saeed Ajmal's struggle in bowling as he managed to take just five wickets for 248 runs after bowling over 100 overs.

He said inexperienced Sri Lanka pace trio of Lakmal, Eranga, Pradeep, bowled within right channel and swing and seam the ball to create problems for Pakistani batsmen.
