ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control Wednesday strongly condemned and passed a resolution against Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh's statement to break Pakistan into pieces.
The senate body which met here under the chairmanship of Senator Rahman Malik said the statement validated Pakistan's claim of Indian interference into its internal matters.
"We consider it against our national integrity and the diplomatic norms and demand the government to summon the Indian High Commissioner in the wake of statement which is highly objectionable and condemnable."
The resolution also urged the international community and the United Nation (UN) to take serious notice of the aggressive statement by Indian Home Minster.
Chairman committee said Prime Minster Narendar Modi was suffering from anti Pakistan syndrome.
The body also discussed the matter of narcotics usage in the educational institutions of the federal capital.
Director FG colleges informed that there was no complain of narcotics use in any educational institution working under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).
Secretary narcotics control Ejaz Ali Khan told that they had contacted with the provincial educational institutions to control the menace of drugs usage at their level.
He said about 4.25 million people were addicted of the narcotics throughout the country.
Brigadier Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Basharat said the usage of cocaine was on rise in the society.
He said the age of heroin user decreased for three to four years adding that heroin was more injurious to health than opium.
"We are creating awareness in the schools against usage of narcotics. We have given lectures in 87 schools so far in this regard" he added.
Rahman Malik asked for taking strict action against those schools where narcotics were being supplied.
He said charas is the addiction of poor man while rich people use the cocaine and ecstasy drugs, adding that alcohol was not including in the drugs.
Senator Israr Khan Zehri pointed out Balochistan's some areas where charas and hashish was being harvesting.
Brigadier Basharat requested the Israr Zehri to provide details in this regard as the harvesting of drugs was illegal.
He said since establishment of the ANF only one person had been hanged.
The committee was informed that police, Rangers and sensitive organization had recovered heavy ammunition, weapons and narcotics and arrested 18 people in an operation from adjacent areas of Islamabad Expressway.
Rahman Malik said narcotics were a major threat behind the terrorism and we had to fight against it.
He said hospital and police reports should also be included in narcotics surveys.
He said many problems could not be resolved until population census in the country. Dean Quaid-e-Azam University told that all kind of narcotics were being supplied easily in the jurisdiction of the varsity.
Rehman Malik directed the authorities concerned to launch a combing operation against the sellers of narcotics in Quaid-e-Azam University.
He praised the dean QAU for disclosing this university's major issue, adding that we should highlight such issues to resolve them timely rather than hiding it.
He regretted over the issues of QAU like security, land encroachment and usage of narcotics.
He urged the government to take necessary steps for the security of the educational institutions.
He also directed the secretary interior for the employment of reserve police in the university and establishment of a police choki.
Islamabad police also gave in-camera briefing about the killing of Dr Shahid of PIMS.
