ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Secretary Establishment to issue promotion notification of Umar Farooq, a Custom Officer. The two-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard the case and remarked that no one will be allowed to defy court orders.
The case, pending for last eight months, is about the delay in issuance of promotion order of Customs officer Umar Farooq.
Justice Azmat Saeed said "There is much capacity in Adiala Jail. No one will be allowed to defy court's orders".
The Establishment Division secretary was summoned repeatedly but he did not turn up to file the response, the SC judge said while expressing displeasure over non-appearance of the Establishment Division Secretary.
The court ordered the Attorney General to ensure the issuance of promotion order within 48 hours.
