imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Friday said the Pakistan Muslim League-N government had served the masses selflessly during last seven years and effective steps are being taken to overcome challenges.

Talking to office-bearers of the PML-N who met him at the Chief Minister's Secretariat here, he said completion of projects with transparency, quality and speed was a hallmark of the PML-N government.

Shahbaz Sharif said the last year sit-ins and politics of protest had caused huge loss to the national economy.

He said energy, infrastructure and other projects with China were delayed due to sit-ins.

He said, those wasted the precious time of the nation did not care about the country and the common man.

False allegations were levelled in sit-ins which ended the difference between truth and lie, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said although the country had been brought out of sit-ins and uncertainty yet its affects will be felt for a long time.

He said by the grace of Allah Almighty, the PML-N government had again started a journey of development and were moving forward with new spirit and determination.

He said authentication of precious mineral resources in Chiniot-Rajwa was a great gift of Almighty Allah for Pakistan.

The chief minister said the PML-N government had brought precious mineral reserves out of corruption.

He said during a dictatorial era, former rulers of the Punjab tried to commit corruption on this project and this precious treasure was sold to a so-called company but PML-N government foiled this effort of corruption.

The chief minister said the discovery of wind power corridors in Punjab was a great news. He said a Danish company had identified generation of electricity through wind at various places of the Punjab. Punjab government had set up the first and biggest 100 megawatt solar project of the country from its own resources at Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur which had been completed, he added.

Mentioning projects of provision of facilities to people and development of the province, Shahbaz Sharif said a culture of merit, transparency and speedy completion of development projects had been promoted in the province.

He said billions of rupees were being spent on the projects of public welfare, provision of education, health and other basic amenities to the masses.

He said 50,000 vehicles were being distributed among jobless youth on merit under Self-Employment Scheme for which quota of districts of south Punjab had been enhanced.

The chief minister said Rs 15 billion were being spent on the construction and rehabilitation of roads in rural areas under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme during current financial year whereas more resources of billions of rupees will be provided under this programme in next financial year.
