imageLAHORE: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf has said that Pakistan is ready to protect sovereignty of Saudi Arabia at every cost.

Addressing a conference on inter-religion harmony held under the aegis of World Council of Religions Pakistan here at Alhamra Cultural Complex on Tuesday, he reiterated the government's firm resolve to safeguard holy places in Saudi Arabia including 'Harmain Sharifaen'.

He said that Pakistan was a responsible state and it would play a role of mediator between Yemen and Saudi Arabia with the aim to restore peace in the Middle East.

Referring to the ongoing Army Operation against terrorists, the Minister paid tribute to the armed forces for successful Zarb-e-Azab in tribal areas and termed it right step towards ensuring peace across the country.

He said that whole nation was behind the government and law enforcement agencies with the aim to eliminate terrorists from all over the country.

He urged the representatives of all religions and sects to come forward and play their due role in the war against terrorism.

He said that Ulema and religious leadership should educate the people about the interfaith harmony and brotherhood to make the country peaceful state.

He also stressed for unity among the religions to defeat conspiracies between religions and sects.

He said that Ministry of Religious Affairs formed a high level Commission for Interfaith Harmony comprising members from all religions and sects.

He said that this commission would ensure provision of equal rights to the every community according to the constitution of Pakistan.

Qari Hanif Jullandhary, Secretary General Wafaqul Mudaris Pakistan and Chairman WCRP addressing the gathering condemned terrorist attacks in the country and on religious places including Yohanabad. He also condemned the killing of two innocent Muslims by mob after Yohanabad blasts and termed it inhuman act.

He urged the religious leaders of Christian and other communities to promote interfaith dialogue to ensure peace.

Dr Majeed Able, Bishop Irfan Jameel, Bishop Arch Diosis and Hindu Community Pandit Bhagat Lal also addressed the participants and stressed the need for forging unity among the religions to defeat enemy's designs. They urged the government to ensure equal rights to minorities.

They also condemned blasphemy of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

They vowed to give every sacrifice for the protection of sovereignty of Pakistan.

At Last, a joint declaration also was passed in which the participants extended support to the government and the armed forces in the war against terrorism. They urged the government to introduce laws against the use of religion by some elements to trigger religious clashes just to settle personal issues.

The declaration also stressed the need for declaring the blasphemy of all prophets, holy books, religious traditions and top leadership of all religions as an international crime.
