ISLAMABAD: Production of motorcycle in the country have increased by 2.56 per cent during the first eight months of the current fiscal year as compared to the same period of last year.
According to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), as many as 1,128,082 motorcycles were manufactured during July-February (2013-14) against 1,099,917 during July-February (2012-13).
On year-on-year basis, the production of motorcycles increased by 8.63 per cent during February 2014 as compared to February 2013.
As many as 143,857 motorcycles were manufactured during February 2014 against 132,423 units in February 2013, the data revealed.
The country's large scale manufacturing (LSM) sector witnessed growth of 5.16 per cent during the first eight months of current fiscal year as compared to last year.
The provisional Quantum Index Numbers (QIM) of large scale manufacturing industries was recorded at 120.51 points during July-February (2013-14) against 114.59 points during July-February (2012-13).
The highest growth of 3.30 per cent was witnessed in the indices of Ministry of Industries followed by Provincial Bureaus of Statistics, whose indices increased by 1.35 per cent and the indices of Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC) with 0.51 per cent growth.
On year-to-year basis, the industrial growth increased by 1.14 per cent during February 2014 as compared to February 2013.
