QUETTA: The Provincial government has launched awareness campaign in 21 districts of Balochistan to raise awareness among the people about the fatal disease of Malaria.
Sufficient steps will be taken to control Malaria in the province.
This was said by the Provincial Health Minister, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch who along with Provincial Secretary Health was addressing a press conference here. He said, "The Balochistan government has launched awareness campaign in 21 districts of the province to urge masses to adopt preventative measures to save them from deadly disease of Malaria." , adding that seminars, walks and other programs would be parts of the drive.
He said that the summer season had arrived in and the provincial government had devised a comprehensive plan to prevent Malaria in the province. He said that 660 microscopic centers were being established for diagnose of Malaria.
He said that a Provincial Malaria Reference Center would monitor the performance of those centers.
He said that provincial Health Department had organized several sessions on the occasion of World Malaria Day from 2007 to onward to raise awareness among people about the fatal disease.
He said that the Health Department was also encouraging community based activities to prevent Malaria. He said that during the anti-Malaria Awareness campaign, people would be equipped with knowledge and information about the disease so that they could adopt proper preventive measures against the disease.
He said that spray drive would also be carried out in areas where accumulation of stagnant water and presence of mosquito would be reported. The Health Minister said around 1.6 million people in Pakistan were reported to be infected with Malaria every years.
