imageCHITRAL: Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) NGO has approved construction of 200 KW hydel power house for Reeri Oveer, a remote mountainous area of the district.

District Program Manager SRSP Tariq Ahmad said that this project would be completed at a cost of Rs.27 million with the financial assistance of Program for Economic Advancement & Community Empowerment (PEACE) of European Union.

As many as 480 families would benefit from this project. Papers of the project were also handed over the local public. Qazi Ubaidullah chaired the session called for approval of the project.

CEO SRSP Shahzada Masudul Mulk was chief guest on the occasion. Reeri Oveer a remote area of upper Chitral situated between two mountains is deprived of communication, infrastructure, education and electricity facility.

Elders of the area while speaking on the occasion said that in this modern age Reeri Oveer is deprived of all amenities of life.

They said that in the absence of electricity children of the area could not get education while they are also unaware about the rest of the world. As this valley is behind the mountains, and there is no road, therefore, people of Reeri Oveer could not go Chitral.

They thanked SRSP management that they fulfilled the demand of the people of the area and approved 200 KW hydel power house.

CEO SRSP Shehzada Masood Ul Mulk stressed on the people that they continued collective struggle for the community benefits. It is note-worthy to mention here that roads of this area are in very poor condition and youth of this valley is deprived of education as there is no public transport in the area and only rent-a-car facility is available which is expensive for the general public.

People or Reeri Oveer demanded from the government to provide basic amenities of life like other cities of the country and establish college and hospital.
