MUZAFFARGARH: DCO Shoukat Ali said on Friday that over 70 per cent of the Rs 100 million grant sent by the Punjab government has been spent so far on rescue and relief operations in the flood hit district where the number of relief camps was increased up to 34 providing shelter to 23,418 affected people.
A sum of Rs 77.76 million has so far been utilized out of Rs 100 million sent to the Muzaffargarh district administration by the Punjab government, the DCO said in a statement.
He said that 23,148 people were being provided food two times a day besides other facilities at 34 relief camps.
Exactly 2113 'Daigs' of cooked food have been distributed while 16,455 ration bags have also been provided to affected people other than those lodged inside relief camps.
Two helicopters of Air Force, two from Pakistan Navy and one from Pakistan Army were engaged in relief operations. Over 2000 ration bags, 5000 mineral water bottles, and 3000 milk packets were distributed among the stranded people by helicopters on Friday.
The DCO said that over 33000 people have so far been provided medical treatment while over one million cattle were vaccinated.
Around 2000 kilogram "Wadna', special food for cattle, was also distributed among the affected people, he said.
