zardari---ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of the Prime Minister, has approved a 20 percent increase in the salaries as well as Superior Court Judicial Allowance of the Judges of the Superior Courts.

 

According to the Presidential Order issued under the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the salary of Chief Justice of Pakistan has been increased from Rs 448221/= per mensum to Rs 537865/=whereas the salary of Judges of Supreme court has been increased from Rs.423414/= to Rs 508097/=. Their Judicial Allowance has been increased from Rs. 196219/= to Rs. 235463/=.

 

The salary of Chief Justice of High Court has been increased from Rs. 425426/- to Rs. 498509/- whereas the increase in the salary of other Judges of High Court is from Rs. 399447/- to 479336/- with Judicial Allowance increased to Rs. 188370/-.

 

The salary as well as Superior Judicial Allowance of the Judges of the Superior Courts was enhanced by 50 percent with effect from 1st July 2010 when this relief was allowed to the civil servants of Pakistan.

 

Likewise, civil servants were granted Ad-hoc Relief Allowance @15% of the basic pay with effect from 1st July 2011. Accordingly, the salaryas well as increased Superior Court Judicial Allowance of the Judges of the Superior Courts were also enhanced by 15%.

 

The Government granted another Ad-hoc Relief Allowance @20% of the basic pay to all the civil employees as well as employees of the Armed Forces. However, this relief/increase was not extended to the Judges of Superior Courts at that time.

 

The expenditure so incurred with this increase of salaries would be met from within the sanctioned budget of the respective courts.
