imageLAHORE: Ninth International Garment, Textile & Leather Machinery and Accessories exhibition and conference (IGATEX-2016) Pakistan opened on Wednesday here at the Expo Centre.

Provincial Minister for Industry Ch Muhammad Shafiq inaugurated the event in which high level textile machinery, equipments and accessories have been introduced.

Talking to media, provincial minister Ch Shafiq said such events could provide business opportunities and add value to exports that would positively impact the economy of the country.

He said this particular event would not only introduce newest expertise, improve trade benefits and increase foreign investment through business visits by international delegates.

Since its inception in 2002,the event has played a pivotal role in the development of textile industry by introducing efficient machinery to local manufacturers, the minister added.

He said that in order to strengthen the national economy, steps would be taken on a war footing to set up more industries across the Punjab. Industrialists throughout the province would be encouraged and the foreign investors would be provided opportunities to invest in the country.

It may be mentioned that IGATEX Pakistan 2014 is a leading show with strategic partners such as Textile Machinery Manufacturer's and Supplier's Association of Pakistan (TEXMAP),All Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA),Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) and Pakistan Textile Journal (PTJ).

This year IGATEX Pakistan features over 550 exhibitors from 35 countries including China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Turkey, Taiwan and Switzerland.

The exhibition will continue till Friday.
