WB releases $20 million for Tarbela Fourth Extension Project

HARIPUR: The World Bank has started providing funds for the construction of Tarbela Dam fourth extension project as the first instalment of 20 million dollars has been released.

Project Director M.Yousaf Khattak told APP here Thursday that World Bank is providing funds for the Project through which 1410 Megawatt electricity will be generated.

In order to overcome current power shortage, WAPDA is utilizing all resources and in April work order for the construction will be issued to the company, he added.

Under the fourth extension programme of Tarbela Dam additional power of 1410 MW will be generated and total capacity of Tarbela Power House will be increased from 3478 MW to 4888 MW, he informed the Agency.
