imageISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday approved the appointment of Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, Senior Puisne Judge of Supreme Court as Acting Chief Justice during the period Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Pakistan remains abroad.

The President approved the appointment on the advice of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, under Article 180 of the Constitution.

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Pakistan along with a delegation is proceeding on an official visit to Korea on October 31.

The President has also authorized next senior most Judge of the Supreme Court available to administer oath to the Acting Chief Justice.
