ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, would be paying a landmark visit to the United Kingdom from May 8-13 to attend the First Summit level review of the Enhanced Strategic Dialogue established last year.

The first Annual Review Meeting on Enhanced Strategic Dialogue will provide an opportunity to the leaders of the two countries to take decisions for charting the way forward in five strands of cooperation.

At the review they would also launch a Trade and Investment Roadmap to attain the target of trade to 2.5 billion by 2015 set by British Prime Minister David Cameron last year.

The Enhanced Strategic Dialogue formally launched during the official visit of the British Prime Minister David Cameron to Pakistan in April 2011, covers five areas of bilateral cooperation including trade & business, finance & development assistance, education & health, culture, and defence & security.

The United Kingdom is Pakistan's second largest trading partner and largest development partner among the EU countries.

Prime Minister David Cameron allocated 650 million for four million out of school children in Pakistan for receiving primary education.

Besides, both sides also agree to encourage academic links, student exchanges and increase the number of Pakistani students in the Universities.

The UK has consistently advanced Pakistan's case for enhanced market access to the EU, and supports Pakistan for GSP+ status.

Prime Minister Gilani during his visit would meet British Prime Minister David Cameron.

He would also have interaction with Members of the British Cabinet, Parliamentarians, prominent British businessmen and investors and lead media persons.

The Prime Minister will also attend a function being arranged by British Pakistan Foundation, address a community gathering and lay the foundation stone of the Consular Hall in the Pakistan High Commission.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high level delegation including Cabinet Ministers and Parliamentarians.

The cooperation and coordination between the two countries on global and regional issues would focus on promoting international peace, security and stability.
