Man United make £70m bid for Real Madrid striker

Manchester United have made £70m bid for Real Madrid striker James Rodriguez as he is believed to have agreed personal terms ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

According to Italian outlet Mediaset Premium, now, the Red Devils hope their generous bid will convince Real to offload the Colombian captain.

Rodriguez is desperate for regular football in a bid to revive his career.

He has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu and did not even make the bench for Los Blancos’ Champions League win in Cardiff.

Jose Mourinho hopes Rodriguez's creativity can help his goal-shy side find the back of the net.

But Real president Florentino Perez is playing hard-ball over the Colombian.

He said: "He [Rodriguez] is one of the best players in the world.

"He belongs to Madrid and Madrid players do not leave when they want to or their parents wants them to.

"We have to match the interests of the players with ours, but mostly those of Madrid."

Rodriguez is contracted to the La Liga champions until July 2020.
