ISLAMABAD: The pensioners of Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) from the various major cities would be able to draw their pensions through Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) card system from October 1 this year.
The cities included Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Quetta, an official source told APP on Wednesday.
The registration process of the pensioners with Bank Alfalah was started from May 23 across the country and will be completed in the above mentioned cities till September 30.
The official source said that the registration process of EOBI pensioners hailing from other cities would continue till November 30 and they would start receiving their pensions through ATM cards from December 1.
They can register themselves with any branch of Bank Alfalah till November 30. The pensioners can contact helpline 0800-3624 for
assistance, guidance and facilitation.
The pensioners, who have completed the process of biometric registration in Bank Alfalah must contact 111 225 229 for activation of their ATM cards, sources added.
The EOBI pensioners would continue receiving pensions from designated branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) till activation of the new system.
The senior citizens registered with EOBI were facing problems in receiving pensions. The objective of this step was to enable the old age EOBI pensioners to get their pension in a hassle free environment, the source added.
