christmas 400 copyISLAMABAD: Preparations are in full swing across the world,including Pakistan to mark the great fiesta of Christmas.

 

Christmas preparations include house decorations, arrangement of eatables, purchase of gifts for near ones and plan for the parties to be held on Christmas.   Decoration of houses is an important part of the much awaited festival that involves putting lights indoors and outdoors, placing the Christmas tree embroidered with different types of ornaments, and lights.

 

People also exchange gifts, share love, shower blessings and tighten the bond of relationships by forgetting old grudges with renewed approach towards life, private news channel reported.

 

The Christmas season is celebrated in different ways around the world, varying by country and region.

 

Elements common to many areas of the world include the lighting of Christmas trees, the hanging of wreaths, Christmas stockings, candy canes, and the creation of nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus Christ.

 

In Pakistan, the Christians are the second largest minority after Hindus. The community celebrates the Christmas along with other parts of the world on December 25 with full zeal and fervor.

 

From decorating trees to candles, exchanging of gifts to cake cutting, the Christian community observe everything to celebrate the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ.

 

Christmas preparations will reach on climax when jingling of bells and hymns at churches at the midnight of December 24 speak, "Joy to the world, the Christ is born."

 

With the start of December, the Christian has thronged the market places buying Christmas gifts, Christmas trees and happy Christmas cakes. The markets reflect hustle and bustle of the customers while the administrators of Churches are doing arrangements so that the celebrators feel free not only to pray but enjoy too.

 

Churches in this regard are being washed and decorated with buntings and Christmas trees the most popular symbol of the time. The bakery points are being decorated with Christmas cakes and many more eatables.

 

Carol singing, a Christmas symbol at functions, will also take place in the approaching days. The old carolers would take their lanterns to walk and sing till late at night and then coming home with cold-nipped faces.

 

The main gatherings in connection with the Christmas Day will be held in different cities of the country including Islamabad,Lahore,Karachi,Quetta and Peshawar besides different cities of Punjab province where the community lives in large numbers.

 

Along with Pakistan, Christian community in other Muslim countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and others also celebrate the Christmas Day.
