Things that we can do with our smartphone looks pretty endless, they are our watches, camera, radio, stereo, TV and obviously our telephones. They are already a very powerful computer, so it’s time to become one.
Called ‘Superbook’ is an upcoming gadget that is a laptop shell which can turns your Android smartphone into a laptop. Created by start-up Andromium, the Superbook will function as an extension of any Android smartphone, providing mobile devices’ computing power with the interface, battery life, and keyboard facilities of a standard laptop, reported Forbes.
The Superbook has already risen over $1.7 million on Kickstarter with 11 days to go, and with a price tag of $99, gets you an 11.5 inch screen, big battery and a multi-touch trackpad and keyboard, reports the TechInsider.
“Superbook is our attempt at turning smartphones into laptop solutions. Basically, in the history of computing, there have been many attempts to allow you to use your cellphone as a laptop,” says Andrew Jiang, Co-founder of Andromium.
“You know, dumb hardware shells — laptop shells — but all the processing happens on your phone. The idea is that since cell phones are getting more and more powerful, they’re cheaper than everything, and everyone has one, so why not run everything on it? All the information on apps is already on your phone, so why not keep a shell in the office and a shell at home, and instead of lugging around your laptop, just plug your phone in?”
The company recommends that the smartphone should have at least 1.5GB of RAM and, to work smoothly. It further needs an Android 5.0 or higher, and should support the USB-OTG standards.
