As user privacy is becoming the top priority in the tech world, just days ago the one billion user boasting WhatsApp launched the end-to-end encryption.
The social media platform, Facebook is also looking set to appeal the privacy minded users and is planning to launch a new feature for its Messenger app, which allows user send self-destructing messages through it.
According to Venture Beat, the latest upgrade were revealed through a Twitter account @iOSAppChanges, which posted screenshots of the in-test “disappearing messages” feature being used in the Messenger app for iOS. As per the images shown, users have the ability to adjust how long their chat messages will remain visible to other users.
“You turned on disappearing messages. New messages will disappear from this conversation 15 minutes after being sent,” Messenger says in the chat window, after the option was enabled.
According to BidnessEtc, the updates will be rolled out with Facebook Messenger v68.0 for platform only. The latest feature however, is currently not available to a majority of users.
The report says that Facebook might launch the feature later as an over-the-air update or it can first test it out with a limited user base before rolling it out to the wider market.
