Security of gas wells should be entrusted to army: APTPMA Chief
FAISALABAD: Regional Chairman All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) Faisalabad Region Muhammad Saeed Sheikh demanded that the security of gas wells in the country should immediately be entrusted to army for proper their surveillance and augmentation of gas from present 1850 million MMCF to at least 2000 MMCF.
Addressing a meeting of APTPMA here on Monday, he said that due to improper security and monitoring/cleanliness of gas wells, the gas production had gone down owing to which the gas authorities were taking the plea to suspend gas supply to the industrial units.
He said the leakage of gas pipelines, right from Sui to Punjab and other provinces had alarmingly reduced the gas supply and gas authorities had bitterly been failed to stop the blasting of gas pipelines by the miscreants especially in Balochistan and Sindh provinces.
This situation has created an alarming decline of gas supply in Faisalabad Region and other areas of Punjab province, he added.
He said that if the control of gas wells was entrusted to army, the smooth and uninterrupted gas supply for industrial units and domestic consumers could be ensured.
