Posting pictures on Facebook and other social media platforms is a habit, common among all age groups young and old; we like to show off our lives, our successes, families etc.
But what if sharing such intimate information brings disgrace to your loved ones. This is what happened to an Austrian teenager who is now suing her parents for posting embarrassing photos of her on Facebook without her consent.
The young women, whose name has not been released to the public, claims that her parents posted some 500 “embarrassing and intimate” pictures of her on the site sharing it with their Facebook friends since 2009, this act has “made her life a misery,” she claimed.
"They knew no shame or limits. Whether I was sitting on the potty or naked in my crib, my every step was recorded photographically and, afterwards, made public,” the unnamed teenager told Austrian magazine Die ganze Woche.
The girl’s father however, is of the view that because he took the photos of his daughter, he has the right to decide how they are disseminated on the internet. But things change when her daughter turned 18, and now being an adult is now asserting that right, reported Fusion.
The case is quite unheard of reported DigitalTrends, however, if it can be proven in the court of law that the images violated the girl’s right to a personal life than she has a good chance of winning the case against her parents.
