Following the ban on the film ‘Phantom’, it seems that another Bollywood movie ‘Calendar Girls’ has landed itself in controversy because of its possibly anti-Pakistan content. Reportedly, Pakistanis are raising objection against the movie.

However, on the other hand, a local media reported that Pakistan censor board has said that they have not received ‘Calendar Girls’ for certification. In fact, they have not even received a request to recommend issuance of an NOC to it, so there is no point of banning the movie.

According to PinkVilla.com, the film that is set to release on 25th September, has received a Fatwa from Pakistan due to the content, which they say, portrays the country in bad light.

One of the girls in the film features as being of Pakistani origin and delivers a dialogue “Pakistani girls do equally bold work as other girls; and sometimes more than them too”. Pakistanis feel the dialogue portrays Pakistani girls and culture in false pretence and the movie will be a bad influence on young girls in their country. This has upset the Pakistani officials who have decided to ban ‘Calendar Girls’ in Pakistan, Indian media reported.

These rumours were ignited when director Madhur Bhandarkar took to Twitter to share concern over the release of the movie.

It seems more like a publicity stunt as no Pakistani distributor has even attempted to import the film as yet. The Pakistani audience isn’t likely to be interested in watching it anyway given that it does not star any known Bollywood actors.
