Ranbir Kapoor who has been roped in to portray Sanjay Dutt in a biopic based on the legendary star's life believes that it will be challenging to essay Sanjay Dutt on big screen.
Ace film director Rajkumar Hirani has admitted that Ranbir Kapoor is the only actor he has spoken to about playing the lead role in a biopic on Sanjay Dutt.
According to Times of India reports, Ranbir Kapoor said, “Biopics are hard because you have to celebrate such a giant man's life on screen... I would really look forward to getting Sanjay Dutt alive on screen. It's a very challenging character, very colourful, he's had a very challenging life and I think it will be interesting to portray him on screen”.
Director Rajkumar Hirani on the other hand said, “Ranbir is a great actor and I am sure he will be able to do full justice to the role. For the film, he wants to put on weight, so that he can take up the journey (of the character) effectively. We have already told Ranbir what are we doing, and how we are going to approach the story. And he is excited,” Indian media reported.
However, Ranbir clarified that since Hirani is still writing the script, nothing has finalized yet. But, Hirani has said earlier that he will be ‘starting the film next year’.
