Bollywood actor Salman Khan's hit-n-run case is coming to an end, prosecution today asserted before the trial court that the superstar was very much behind the wheel when his car killed a man in 2002.
The case of the prosecution is that three persons were in the car, Salman Khan, his police bodyguard Ravindra Patil and singer friend Kamal Khan -- which rammed into a bakery shop in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four others who were sleeping outside. Public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said that Salman was driving Toyota Land Cruiser and not his driver Ashok Singh as subsequently claimed before. He also termed Singh ‘a dummy witness’ who had lied under oath, Times of India reported.
However, Salman's lawyer Srikant Shivade had argued earlier that there were four persons in the SUV. Salman Khan, who the prosecution has contended was drunk and driving, crashed the SUV early hours of September 28, 2002, into the American Express Bakery in Bandra west, killing one pavement dweller and injuring four others.
Khan's lawyer would continue arguments on April 15, which could be last hearing of this hit-n-run case.
Salman Khan is currently shooting for his upcoming film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ alongside Sonam Kapoor in Udaipur.
