imagePakistani supermodel Ayyan who recently got herself arrested for smuggling money to Dubai has not yet been permitted to meet her family.

Raja Hafeez, Ayyan's father is said to have submitted a petition to customs officials today asking for permission to meet his daughter. Authorities claim that Raja Hafeez has not met his daughter for nearly 10 years, local media reported.

Few days back Ayyan was arrested from Benazir International Airport after custom officials found $500,000 currency notes during the checking of Ayyan's luggage when she was about to leave for Dubai.

According to local media reports, Malik Mushtaq, superintendent at Adiala Jail, has confirmed this statement, saying that, the customs team investigating Ayyan is not allowing her to meet anyone until they are able to secure a statement from her. Although Ayyan is a category B 'VIP' inmate at Adiala jail, she is being denied the privilege of meeting her family. VIP detainees at Adiala are allowed to meet their relatives and lawyers.

The superintendent claimed the model is being treated like a regular detainee, following a 'normal' routine and eating the same food but few media sources claimed that she is being given special treatment and provided with food from outside the jail.

The case was lodged against the accused under Custom Act and the model was presented before Special Judge Custom who sent her to 14-day judicial remand.
