ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has resumed the court proceedings with second hearing today (Monday) as the Panama case is entering the ‘final phase’ this week probing the Sharif family’s financial assets.

As per the latest developments, the counsel for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Naeem Bukhari is presenting his arguments in favour of the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report in the Supreme Court.

The special implementation bench comprising three members began proceedings of the mega corruption case today morning after 9:30am.

Earlier, the Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar submitted their objections on the JIT report to the court. Sharif family's counsel Khawaja Harris will later present his arguments against the JIT report.

Security has been heightened in the city and around the Supreme Court pertaining to the much-anticipated and high-profile hearing.

JIT submitted its final investigation report in the court on July 10, highlighting the failure of the Sharif family to provide a money trail for its London apartments.

The JIT report in previous hearing claimed that the prime minister and his children own assets beyond their known sources of income.

After the report disclosure, the special bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, issued notices to all parties to submit their responses.
