Rakhi feels ashamed over false statement

Amid the ongoing controversy over her arrest, TV and Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant has apologized for her remarks against sage Valmiki.

"I  to all members of the Valmiki community, to Valmiki bhagwan, for any offence I may have caused. I do not wish to hurt any feelings and am sorry for the same," Sawant said via video.

Rakhi said, in her apology, that she only said what she had learnt in school and that if she has hurt the sentiments of anyone; she is remorseful for the same. “I love you all. I love Valmiki Bhagwan,” she concluded.

The arrest warrant against Sawant was issued on March 9 after she failed to appear before it on March 9 in a case filed against her for making derogatory remarks against sage Valmiki, the author of the Ramayana which chronicles the life and times of Hindu god Rama.

The complainants had accused Sawant of hurting religious sentiments of the Valmiki community by her remarks on a TV show. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for April 10.
